EIA 364-27 Mechanical Shock Testing of Electrical Connectors and Sockets
EIA 364-27 determines the susceptibility of connectors when subjected to shocks. As a certified environmental lab, we realize the importance of EIA mechanical shock testing. Meeting the environmental EIA 364-27 electrical connector requirements can be difficult. We understand the challenges and guide companies through the process.
Keystone Compliance partners with customers to achieve environmental product compliance. We take pride in providing the peace of mind that all of your needs will be met. Keystone’s accurate test reports are delivered quickly and our proven process helps avoid product launch delays. Lastly, when products do not meet the requirements, we assist with finding solutions.

Summary of EIA 364-27 Standard Specified Pulse Testing
As mentioned above, test method 364-27 determines suitability of connectors and connector assemblies when subjected to shocks. These shocks include those expected from rough handling, transportation, and military operations.
EIA test equipment used in the environmental 364-27 compliance test includes a shock testing machine. This machine is capable of producing specified input shock pulses. The shock machine must be of the free fall, resilient rebound, non-resilient, hydraulic, compressed gas, or other activating types.
In order to meet the shock tolerance requirements, the instrumentation used to measure the input shock must have specified characteristics.
Data in this EIA test standard includes the title, date, and test engineer. Data may also include a sample description, test conditions and test equipment used. Photographs are necessary for proof of conformance.
EIA 364-27 Mechanical Shock Testing Procedures
The test sample is first mounted as specified by the EIA standard. Whenever possible, the test load is distributed uniformly throughout the test platform. This is done in order to minimize the effects of unbalanced loads.
Three shocks in each direction are applied. The shocks applied are along the three mutually perpendicular axes of the test specimen. If the EIA 364-27 test item is normally mounted on vibration isolators, the isolators are functional during the test.
Keystone Compliance Offers Expert EIA Compliance Testing Services
Keystone has a full lab of test equipment which permits us to provide short lead times on scheduling. In addition to environmental mechanical shock testing, Keystone has a full scope of expertise including immersion, fungus, rain, and humidity. Our team strives to give our customers more time and energy on product development instead of testing.
