EIA 364-32 Thermal Shock Testing of Electrical Connectors

EIA 364-32 thermal shock testing determines the susceptibility of electrical connectors to extreme high and low temperatures. As a certified environmental lab, we realize the importance of thermal shock temperature testing. Meeting the environmental EIA 364-32 requirements can be difficult. We understand the challenges and guide companies through the process.

Keystone Compliance partners with customers to achieve environmental product compliance. We are in constant communication throughout the entire test process. Our proven process helps avoid product launch delays. We have a reputation of helping customers achieve their environmental product certifications. Keystone provides the peace of mind that all of your needs will be met.

Summary of EIA 364-32 Temperature Cycling of Connectors

The purpose of this EIA thermal shock compliance test is to simulate the worst probable conditions of storage, transportation and application. This EIA test is only pertaining to high and low temperatures.

Separate test chambers are used for extreme temperature conditions. The air temperature of both chambers are held at each of the extreme temperatures. This is done by means of circulation and sufficient hot or cold chamber thermal capacity.

EIA 364-32 Laboratory Compliance Testing Procedures

Specified measurements are made prior to the first cycle and after completing the final cycle. Before cycling, the combined mass of the assembly to be tested is determined. Furthermore, this mass will include contacts and sealing rings. Connector accessories attached to the connector, and any wire within the envelope boundaries of the connector are also included.

The test specimen is placed with respect to the airstream. There must be no obstructions to the flow of air across and around the specimen. Mounting is required only when specifically mentioned. Lastly, specimens are not subjected to forced circulating air while being transferred from one chamber to another.
