Summary of KN 61000-6-1 Electromagnetic Compatibility Immunity Testing
KN 61000-6-1 testing EMC immunity requirements for electrical and electronic apparatus intended for use in residential, commercial, and light-industrial environments. The immunity requirements in KN-61000-6-1 testing range from 0Hz to 400 GHz.
The object of KN 61000-6-1 compliance testing is to define the immunity test requirements for equipment defined in the scope in relation to continuous and transient, conducted, and radiated disturbances including electrostatic discharge.
The KN-61000-6-1 test standard applies to devices intended to be directly connected to a low-voltage public mains network or connected to a dedicated d.c. source, which is intended to interface between the apparatus and the low-voltage public mains network.
The KN 61000-6-1 test standard also applies to devices that are battery-powered by a non-public, non-industrial, low-voltage power distribution system. Devices intended to be connected to an industrial power network and apparatus intended to be operated in an industrial environment are covered by the industrial generic EN 61000-6-2 test standard.
KN 61000-6-1 EMC Compliance Testing Conditions
KN 61000-6-1 Test Performance Criteria A: The apparatus shall continue to operate as intended during and after the test. No degradation or performance or loss of function is allowed below a performance level specified by the manufacturer when the apparatus is used as intended.
The performance level may be replaced by a permissible loss of performance. If the minimum performance level or the permissible performance loss is not specified by the manufacturer, either of these may be derived from the product description and documentation and what the user may reasonably expect from the apparatus if used as intended.
KN 61000-6-1 Test Performance Criteria B: The apparatus shall continue to operate as intended after the test. No degradation of performance or loss of function is allowed below a performance level specified by the manufacturer when the apparatus is used as intended. The performance level may be replaced by a permissible loss of performance
During the test, degradation of performance is however allowed. No change of actual operating state or stored data is allowed. If the minimum performance level or the permissible performance loss is not specified by the manufacturer, either of these may be derived from the product description and documentation and what the user may reasonably expect from the apparatus if used as intended.
KN 61000-6-1 Test Performance Criteria C: Temporary loss of function is allowed, provided the function is self-recoverable or can be restored by the operation of the controls.
Keystone Compliance Offers Expert KN 61000 Compliance Testing
Keystone Compliance is recognized as a leader among KN 61000 6 1 testing labs. With five EMC chambers and multiple ground planes, our scheduling lead times are short. We also differentiate ourselves in the industry by providing engineering guidance throughout the entire test program.
When obstacles arise in testing that prevent a device from complying with the KN 61000-6-1 test requirements, our team of engineers works to identify the source of the problem and then provide suggestions on how to overcome the compliance challenges. This engineering guidance has allowed Keystone Compliance to become one of the fastest-growing companies in the country.
