Summary of ISTA 1C Package Integrity Testing
ISTA Test Procedure 1C is an integrity test that covers the testing of individual packaged products weighing 150 pounds (68 kg) or less when prepared for shipment. There is one exception, which is individual packaged-products on a visible skid or pallet that weigh more than 100 pounds (45 kg). may be tested according to Test Procedure 1E or Procedure 3E.
ISTA 1C challenges the capability of the package and the product to withstand transport hazards. The tests are simulations of actual transport hazards and do not necessarily comply with carrier packaging regulations.
The test sequence for ISTA Procedure 1C is as follows:
Atmospheric Measurement Test Block – Temperature and Humidity.
Compression Conditioning Test Block – Compression.
Vibration Test Block – Fixed Displacement.
Vibration Test Block – Random.
Shock Test Block – Drop or Impact.
