Summary of Wireless Intentional Radiator Testing

Intentional Radiators purposefully emit radiofrequency energy. Examples of wireless technologies include WiFi, Bluetooth, Zigbee, etc. Wireless testing of electronics such as cordless telephones, headphones, and other devices is carried out to be sure that these devices do not interfere with each other.

In most countries, wireless and radio frequency (RF) interference testing is imposed by law. The FCC is responsible for managing and licensing the electromagnetic spectrum for commercial users and for non-commercial users including: state, county, and local governments. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has established radio frequency standards to prevent products from facing these altercations.

Keystone’s Wireless Compliance Testing Capabilities and Equipment

Keystone’s rf wireless equipment allows us to complete wireless on-site testing. Our wireless technicians have the ability and knowledge to design custom test setups when needed. Keystone has all the US, CAN, and EU essential testing equipment for wireless compliance including:

  • Measuring receiver
  • Directional couplers
  • Notch filters
  • Power meter
  • Frequency counter
  • RF switch
  • Attenuators
  • Antennas
  • Low noise amps

Our laboratory is capable of analyzing Tx and Rx emissions from 9kHz to 44GHz either directly coupled or radiated in the SAC or FAC. Each of Keystone’s wireless engineers is required to maintain CEC yearly through various seminars, webinars, and industry-specific training.

Keystone has a full scope of testing capabilities including multiple transmitters, simultaneous transmitters, and licensed exempt radios. Additionally, we can accommodate fixed, mobile and portable devices of all sizes.

International Acceptance

As mentioned above, prior to the global marketing and selling of wireless devices, the FCC requires wireless rf testing. Keystone Compliance is accredited to perform wireless testing in accordance with the FCC and MRAs in place through NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology).

However, not everyone needs certification testing all of the time. We accommodate research and development time by teaming up your team with one of our engineers and a chamber. This is a great way to run scans and learn how your product performs prior to starting the formal compliance test program.

Customer Experience

Customer experience is a primary focus of Keystone’s operations. The experience starts with quoting and ends with the report delivery. Our wireless testing quote turnaround is quick, thorough, and straightforward. With a team of engineers having a combined 50+ years of experience, and multiple chambers, lead times on job scheduling and testing are short.

Our communication during the test program is constant. There are no surprises. In addition to the contact information of the lab manager, all customers receive the contact information of a program manager and the EMC/EMI test engineer completing the testing.

Upon completion of the test is the creation of the report. We have a team of experienced report writers that complete thorough and timely reports.
