
Amazon SIPP (Ships in Product Packaging) Type H Package Integrity Testing
Amazon has specifically designated large TVs as part of the packaging test type H. These include individually packaged TVs and monitors that are more than 150 pounds with a girth exceeding 165 inches, shipped via less than truckload (LTL) and utilizing the standard handling method, also known as the floor-loaded method.
This method is for individually-packaged products received at an Amazon.com Fulfillment Center, not on pallets or with multiple packaged products on a single pallet, and intended to ship to the end consumer without a pallet.
ISTA 6 SIPP Type H Verification Process
Type H products fall under Amazon’s SIOC (Ships In Own Container) status. These packages are tested according to the ISTA 6 SIOC Type H test sequence, developed by Amazon and the International Safe Transit Authority (ISTA).
SIOC products are not shipped in an Amazon box, aiming for a frustration-free experience. Boxes should be easy to open, with packaging designed to reduce waste and not significantly increase weight and dimensions.
Unique Classification
TVs and monitors are treated as non-fragile products by Amazon, requiring only one sample for testing. This product category was created due to the unique attributes of these products, such as inherent fragility and specific handling needs.
