Summary of CISPR 11 Test Lab Device Information
This worldwide CISPR 11 standard applies to industrial, scientific, and medical electrical equipment operating within the frequencies of 0 Hz to 400 GHz.
Requirements for industrial, scientific, and medical (ISM) RF lighting equipment and UV irradiators operating within defined frequency bands are also integrated into this CISPR 11 standard. Equipment covered by other CISPR product family emission tests is not included in this RF device test.
Certain frequencies are designated by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for use for ISM RF applications.
The document following the equipment specification must contain details of any precautions to be observed. This equipment is not intended to be used in residential environments. In this environment, the equipment may not provide adequate protection to radio reception.
Scope of CISPR 11 Industrial, Medical, and Scientific Electrical Equipment Testing
Equipment in this EMC regulatory compliance standard is split into group 1 and group 2.
Group 1 contains all equipment in this standard that is not classified within group 2. Group 1 will either meet both the average limit specified or the quasi-peak limit.
Group 2 equipment contains all ISM RF equipment in which RF energy ranging from 9 Hz to 400 GHz is intentionally generated and used. These frequencies are also used for the treatment of material, inspection/analysis purposes, or the transfer of electromagnetic energy.
Equipment is also classified into two of the following classes. Class A and Class B equipment.
Class A equipment is suitable for use in all locations other than residential locations. Arc welding equipment that contains striking or stabilizing devices is classified as class A equipment.
Class B equipment is used in residential environments and establishments directly connected to a low voltage power supply network.
CISPR 11 Compliance Test Disturbance Conditions
Load conditions of the equipment under test are specified below. Equipment not covered by this subclause is to be operated to maximize the disturbance generated while still conforming with normal operating procedures. This is as provided in the operating manual of the equipment.
The load used when industrial equipment is tested may be either the load used in service or an equivalent device. When testing with the load used in service, the electrodes and cables are disposed of in the manner of their normal use. Measurements are made at both maximum output power and half-maximum output power. Equipment that normally operates at zero or very low output power is also tested in these conditions.
Scientific equipment is tested under normal operating conditions. Laboratory and measuring equipment is operated as intended. Any RF output ports are terminated in a matching non-radiating load.
