Summary of VCCI Japanese EMC Compliance Testing
VCCI V-4 is intended to standardize the placement of equipment under test and operational requirements to enhance the reproducibility of the measurement. Detailed attention is placed on defining conditions close to actual use for the placement of EUT and handling of cables. Placement of the EUT and handling of cables are determined from two points of view. First, not to cause radio interference during normal use. Second, to enhance the reproducibility of the test.
The VCCI V-4 standard test method encompasses supplementary test conditions for equipment under test. VCCI consists of:
- Information technology equipment
- General measurement conditions
- Visual display units
- Printers
- External storage devices
- Associated equipment
- Digital video projectors
- Multifunction devices
- Communication equipment
- Modems
- Key telephone systems
A system with several separate units must be configured to form a representative configuration. The number and mix of units included in VCCI must be representative of those used in a typical installation. Lastly, the rationale used for selecting units is stated in the test report.
Examples of typical configurations are:
- Personal computer;
- Keyboard connected to PS/2 port and mouse;
- Either of a CRT display unit connected to an analog RGB port or LCD unit.
- One or more typical peripheral equipment connected to COM A port such as a serial base mouse and data processing drive.
- One or more typical peripheral equipment is connected to the USB port. Such as flash memory, hard disk, keyboard, etc.
If no device is available for installation on a prepared port, the cable provided by the manufacturer is connected. The length of the interface cable and method for terminating its open end as per the manufacturer’s specifications.
