Summary of TIA 102 CAAA Upper Microwave Service Testing
As of December 2016, Local Multipoint Distribution Service licenses for the 27.5 – 28.35 GHz and 38.6 – 40 GHz band under Part 101 have been reassigned to the Upper Microwave Flexible Use Service, part 30. Services in bands other than mentioned above will remain conducted by part 101 of the TIA standard.
An initial authorization includes manufacturers submitting a single application for all markets won and frequency blocks desired. Initial authorizations will have a term not to exceed ten years from the date of initial issuance or renewal.
Point-to-point station: This transmits a signal from a fixed transmitter location to a fixed receive location.
Point-to-Multipoint User Station: A fixed radio station lies within the coverage area of a Point-to-Multipoint Hub station. The station uses a directional antenna to receive one-way communications. It can also provide two-way communications with a fixed Point-to-Multipoint Hub Station.
Scope of TIA Wireless Part 30 Microwave Service Testing
Licensees of this service must make a buildout showing their renewal applications. Licensees must also show proof of reliable signal coverage and service for at least 40% of the local population. Showings that rely on a combination of multiple types of service are evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Manufacturers are subject to radiofrequency exposure requirements. Applications for mobile or portable devices must contain a statement confirming compliance with these requirements.
Intentional Radiator Service CAAA Wireless Testing Conditions
For fixed and base stations operating in connection with mobile systems, the average powerline is limited to a specific equivalent isotropically radiated power density defined in the standard. For mobile stations, the average power of the sum of all antenna elements is specifically limited. The limitations are to a maximum EIRP of +43 dBm. For transportable stations, it is limited to a maximum EIRP of +55 dBm.
Emission limits outside a licensee’s frequency block must be -13 dBm/MHz or lower. When measuring emission limits, the nominal carrier frequency is adjusted as close to block edges as the design permits. The measurements of emission power can be expressed in peak or average values.
Before operating a fixed point-to-point transmitting facility, frequency coordination must be completed.
