IMDA-TS Singapore Testing of Short Range Devices

IMDA-TS-SRD testing applies to Short Range Devices (SRDs) used for radio communication in Singapore. As a leader in Singapore’s RF regulatory compliance testing, Keystone Compliance recognizes the requirements needed for wireless radio manufacturers. Meeting the ETSI, FCC, and other wireless testing specifications can be challenging. Not only do we understand the challenges, but we help guide companies through the process.

Keystone is continually developing partnerships in GMA and RF exposure testing. These strategic partnerships allow us to meet customer needs beyond our scope of accreditation. Keystone takes pride in providing the peace of mind that all of your wireless testing needs will be met. Our wireless test engineers work with clients to quickly develop appropriate and concise test plans.

Summary of Singapore Wireless Short Range Device Testing

Short Range Devices (SRDs) can share radiofrequency specifications with other radiocommunication devices. This IMDA-TS test method describes the performance and methods of measurement for SRDs, also known as Low Interference Potential Devices (LIPDs).

IMDA-TS Short Range Devices may include:

  • Alarms
  • Data collection systems
  • Baby monitors
  • Retail and logistic systems
  • Telecommand applications
  • Wireless home data telemetry
  • Security systems
  • Keyless automobile entry systems
  • Garage door openers

SRDs can be fixed, mobile, or portable devices and have dedicated, and/or integral antennas. Fixed stations are intended for use in a fixed location. Mobile stations are equipment normally fixed in a vehicle. Lastly, portable stations are intended to be carried, attached, or implemented.

Wireless SRDs can not cause harmful interference to other radiocommunication and wireless devices. If so, the user of the device is in breach of the conditions of operation of that device.

Scope of IMDA-TS-SRD Short Range Device Testing

Only one sample representative of production needs to be tested. The temperature and humidity conditions for tests are to be within the following ranges. Temperature: +15 degrees Celsius to +30 degrees Celsius. Relative Humidity: 20% to 75%. For tests at extreme temperatures, measurements are recorded at an upper and lower value of +55 and -10 degrees Celsius.

First, the standard test source voltages are to be connected to the a.c. mains network. These test sources must also be the nominal mains voltage and frequency. The extreme test source voltages to be connected to the a.c. mains must be 0.9 to 1.1 times the nominal mains voltage.

Before measurements are made, the wireless equipment must reach thermal balance in the test chamber. The equipment is then shut off during the temperature stabilization period. If the equipment is designed to continuously operate, the temperature stabilization circuits are switched on for 15 min after thermal balance is attained.

For radiated emission level measurements, the measured value is used to determine wireless compliance with the limit. For emission bandwidth and operating frequency test results, measuring instruments vary in their accuracy and resolution of the measurement.

Radiofrequency regulators of Singapore do not necessarily support the use of devices in certain frequency bands. The limits provided in this intentional radiator standard are to be used in conjunction with other referenced methods such as ETSI and CISPR documents.
