NZS CISPR 32 EMC Radio-Frequency Disturbance Testing of Industrial, Scientific and Medical Equipment

New Zealand NZS CISPR 32 applies to the testing of multimedia equipment. As a leader in EMC regulatory compliance testing, Keystone Compliance assists electronic equipment manufacturers with EMC testing. Meeting the IEC, EN, and other EMC testing requirements can be challenging. Not only do we understand the challenges, but we help guide companies through the process.

Keystone takes pride in providing the peace of mind that all of your unintentional radiator testing needs will be met. Keystone Compliance’s accurate test reports are delivered quickly using our “four-eyes” approach. Meaning that multiple engineers and technicians review each report, ensuring that all the information required is present. Additionally, our proven process helps avoid product launch delays.

Summary of CISPR 32 Electromagnetic Compatibility EMC Testing

ded for multimedia equipment. However, the equipment must have a rating of r.m.s. AC or DC supply voltage not exceeding 600 V. The radiated emission requirements for CISPR 32 are not intended to apply to international transmissions of radio transmitters.

Equipment within the scope of CISPR 13 and 22 are also within this electromagnetic compatibility, EMC, scope. Multimedia equipment (MME) is intended for professional use.

The scope of this EMC test has two objectives to meet:

  • The EMC standard is used to establish requirements that provide adequate levels of protection of the radio spectrum.
  • CISPR 32 is used to specify procedures to ensure the reproducibility of measurements and the repeatability of results.

EMC multimedia equipment is equipment that is used for information technology, audio, video, broadcast receiver, entertainment light control, or a combination of these.

Compliance with CISPR 32 either class A or Class B requirements. Compliance is shown by measuring the EUT’s emissions when operating its functions simultaneously, individually in turn, or a combination of the two.

Scope of NZS CISPR 32 EMC Compliance Testing

The New Zealand NZS 32 procedures to be used for the measurement of emission levels depend on several factors. These include:

  • Type of equipment under testing (EUT)
  • The type of port
  • The types of cables used
  • The frequency range
  • The mode of operation.

General electromagnetic compatibility requirements for compiling a test report are found in IEC 17025. Moreover, sufficient details must be provided to reproduce and complete formal measurements.

NZS CISPR 32 will state the mode of operation of the EUT. The report will describe how its ports are exercised throughout the test. The test must indicate whether the product is compliant with the Class A or Class B equipment.

The EMC CISPR 32 New Zealand test report will also include measurements of at least six of the highest emissions relative to the limit for each detector type. The regulatory compliance results include information for each emission such as:

  • The port assessed
  • For AC power line measurements, the line under test
  • Frequency and amplitude of the emission
  • Margin with respect to the specified limit
  • The limit at the frequency of the emission
  • The detector used.
