What It Evaluates
Applies a fast EMP-like transient electromagnetic field to equipment enclosures.
Generate a 50 kV/m pulse with a 1.8–2.8 ns rise time and 23 ±5 ns full-width half-maximum duration. Center the equipment in the calibrated TEM or parallel-plate working volume and bond it as installed.
When It Applies
Applicability depends on platform, installation, interfaces, procurement requirements, and the controlling revision.
Typical Applicability
Begin at approximately 10% of the required amplitude, increase to the full level, and apply at least five pulses at no more than one pulse per minute. Monitor during and after every pulse and repeat orthogonal orientations as needed to maximize electric- and magnetic-field coupling.
