MIL-STD-461 EMC
CS115 Conducted Susceptibility, Bulk Cable Injection, Impulse Excitation
MIL-STD-461, CS115
What It Evaluates
Couples fast impulse transients onto cables to reproduce switching, lightning, and EMP-related interference.
Use a 5 A pulse with rise and fall times of approximately 2 ns, a 30 ns pulse width, and a 30 Hz repetition rate. Apply the calibrated waveform for 1 minute to each applicable cable configuration.
When It Applies
Applicability depends on platform, installation, interfaces, procurement requirements, and the controlling revision.
Typical Applicability
Calibrate the waveform in a 50 Ω fixture, place the monitor probe 5 cm from the connector and the injection probe 5 cm farther away, then inject each cable bundle and power-cable configuration. Test complete power cables and repeat with returns and chassis grounds excluded.
Setup Notes
Setup notes and technical limits must be entered from verified source requirements.
This tool provides preliminary planning information only. Final MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461, and RTCA DO-160 requirements must be reviewed and tailored by qualified engineers based on the product, lifecycle, platform, environment, and contract requirements.
