What It Evaluates
Injects common-mode RF current onto cable bundles to simulate electromagnetic energy coupled into platform wiring.
Test the applicable platform range from 10 kHz–200 MHz; specified ship and submarine applications also use 77 dBµA from 4 kHz–1 MHz. Place the monitor probe 5 cm from the connector and the injection probe 5 cm from the monitor probe.
When It Applies
Applicability depends on platform, installation, interfaces, procurement requirements, and the controlling revision.
Typical Applicability
Calibrate the injection probe in a 50 Ω fixture and record the forward power required to produce the selected current curve. Operate the equipment and inject a 1 kHz pulse-modulated signal at 50% duty cycle into each individual cable bundle, complete power cable, and required power-lead grouping while scanning the applicable frequency range.
