MIL-STD-461 EMC
CS106 Conducted Susceptibility, Transients, Power Leads
MIL-STD-461, CS106
What It Evaluates
Injects short high-voltage transients directly onto equipment power inputs.
This legacy MIL-STD-461F requirement applies to submarine and surface-ship AC and DC power leads, excluding grounds and neutrals. It uses a 400 V peak pulse with a 1.5 ±0.5 µs rise, 3.5 ±0.5 µs fall, and 5 µs ±22% pulse width; CS106 was deleted beginning with MIL-STD-461G.
When It Applies
Applicability depends on platform, installation, interfaces, procurement requirements, and the controlling revision.
Typical Applicability
Calibrate across a 5 Ω non-inductive load, then inject the transient onto each ungrounded power lead at 5–10 pulses per second for at least 5 minutes. Monitor the equipment and determine the susceptibility threshold and AC phase position when a response occurs.
Setup Notes
Setup notes and technical limits must be entered from verified source requirements.
This tool provides preliminary planning information only. Final MIL-STD-810H, MIL-STD-461, and RTCA DO-160 requirements must be reviewed and tailored by qualified engineers based on the product, lifecycle, platform, environment, and contract requirements.
