What It Evaluates
Measures a strong unwanted signal to determine whether it produces spurious responses in a receiver.
Applies from 30 Hz–20 GHz, with the actual range determined by the receiver’s front-end design and operational electromagnetic environment. Preselectors, limiters, LNAs, couplers, and other normal front-end devices remain installed.
When It Applies
Applicability depends on platform, installation, interfaces, procurement requirements, and the controlling revision.
Typical Applicability
Establish the desired signal near the receiver’s minimum sensitivity, then sweep a CW unwanted signal across the specified out-of-band frequencies and monitor for spurious responses. A 50 dBm CW level may be considered when developing a tailored requirement; equipment with non-removable antennas may require a calibrated radiated version of the test.
