IEC 61000-4-6 Testing – Immunity to Conducted Disturbances
The scope of IEC 61000-4-6 testing and EN 61000-4-6 testing relates to the conducted immunity requirements of electrical and electronic equipment to electromagnetic disturbances coming from intended radio-frequency (RF) transmitters in the frequency range 9 kHz up to 80 MHz. Equipment not having at least one conducting cable (such as mains supply, signal line or earth connection) which can couple the equipment to the disturbing RF fields is excluded from IEC 61000 4 6 testing.
The object of the IEC 61000 4 6 test standard is to establish a common reference for evaluating the functional immunity of electrical and electronic equipment when subjected to conducted disturbances induced by radio-frequency fields. The test method documented in the EN 61000 4 6 test describes a consistent method to assess the immunity of an equipment or system against a defined phenomenon.
The source of disturbance covered by IEC 61000 4 6 testing is basically an electromagnetic field, coming from intended RF transmitters, that may act on the whole length of cables connected to installed equipment. AN EN 61000-4-6 test lab subjects the EUT to a source of disturbance comprising electric and magnetic fields, simulating those coming from intentional RF transmitters.
Keystone Compliance has developed an expertise in conducted immunity testing and is regarded as a premier IEC 61000-4-6 test lab. Our knowledge of the standard ensures that our customer’s devices are properly tested, but more importantly, it allows our engineers to assist our customers in overcoming test failures. When failures occur, our team not only identifies the potential root cause of the problem, but they also work diligently with our customers to identify and implement corrections to overcome the failures. This troubleshooting service is unmatched in the industry and big reason why so many manufacturers choose Keystone Compliance as their IEC 61000-4-6 EMC test lab.
