IEC 60068-2-30 Damp Heat TestingIEC 60068-2-30 Environmental Testing: Damp Heat

IEC 60068-2-30 damp heat testing is designed to determine the suitability of components, equipment, or other articles for use, transportation, and storage under conditions of high humidity – combined with cyclic temperature changes and, in general, producing condensation on the surface of the specimen. If the test is being used to verify the performance of a specimen while it is being transported or stored in packaging then the packaging will normally be fitted when the test conditions are being applied.

Prior to testing, the specimen are introduced into the chamber either unpacked, switched off, ready-for-use state, or otherwise specified. When there are no specific mounting requirements, the thermal conduction of the mounting is low. This is so that the specimen is thermally isolated.

The total temperature tolerance is generally 2 K and 3 K. However, in order to maintain relative humidity, the temperature difference between any two points must be within narrower limits. The temperature chamber is raised to a specified temperature and the test has a cycle of 24 hours. During this period, relative humidity can not be less than 95%. During the last 15 minutes, the relative humidity can not be less than 90%.
